[edit] Goals
The Foundation will continue to strive for a sustainable community, and the following are steps that we will take to further our mission:
- We will build community consensus on the desirability of achieving the triple bottom line of sustainability – environmental protection, social equity and economic prosperity – and have the local governments and major institutions adopt affirmative strategies to achieve it.
- We will create a sustainable business certificate program, in partnership with a state or national organization, which will recognize businesses who meet a certain criteria that define a sustainable enterprise. We plan to certify 15 local businesses - developing a model to be replicated in other communities.
- We will make real progress on how our community develops affordable workforce housing through new and redeveloped tools and strategies developed by our broad-based Council on Workforce Housing.
- An active Minority Business Alliance helping minority businesses to expand and grow and developing new businesses from within our minority community. We hope to assist five new minority entrepreneurs to own a business, and work towards an 85% retention of existing businesses and 10 business expansions.
